Holy Mass

We are blessed to be able to celebrate Holy Mass 7 times per week at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, at 12:15pm every weekday, and 11am and 7pm on Sundays.

    Here's a breakdown of regular weekday events at Newman: 
     
    Mondays:
     
    Catechesis on the Beatitudes with Fr. Cris Graas, Chaplain at Ernescliff College at 1 PM. Fr. Cris will have a look at what Christ surprisingly presents as conditions to be happy. Christian happiness thus offers a challenge, because it goes against man's natural expectations of a happy life. What does Jesus mean? And what consequences are there for our Christian life?
     
    Tuesdays:
     
    Soup and Bagel Lunch at 1 PM. Join us for the cheapest and most filling meal on campus. For $3 you get a bowl of delicious soup, a bagel, a warm beverage and company no money can buy! 
     
    Men's Faith Formation Group at 4:15 PM. Are you a man who would like to grow more in your relationship with God with other men? Join the men's formation group where we will meet and talk about different aspects of living a virtuous life as a man of God. 
     
    Pray and Play at 7:30 PM. Join us for an hour of Eucharistic Adoration followed by boardgames, video games, baked goodness and good fun. Come for Pray or come for Play or come for Pray and Play! 
     
    Wednesdays:
     
    Women's Faith Formation Group at 4:15 PM. Are you a woman who would like to grow more in your relationship with God with other women? Join the women's formation group where we will meet and talk about different aspects of living a virtuous life as a woman of God. 
     
    Thursdays:
     
    Catechesis on Marriage and Family at 1:00 PM. Would you like to learn more about what the  Church's teaching on Family and Married Life? Professor Elmar Kremer of the Philosophy Department will lead a series of catechism meetings on Marriage and Family Life.

  • Bagel Lunch is Back!

    Bagel Lunch is back! Starting on September 9th and continuing every Tuesday, we'll be serving a bagel and soup for the very low price of only $3! Bagel lunch starts at 12:45 pm, and will continue until 2:30 pm, or whenever we run out of food. 

    It's a great way to get to know others on campus, as well as feed yourself something healthy for not a lot of money. Want more info? Contact us!

  • Pray and Play

    Looking for some time with Jesus and/or some summer fun with others? 
     
    Pray and Play happens each Tuesday evening at Newman starting on September 9th! Adoration (with confession available) takes place in the chapel at 7:30pm, and is followed by board games/video games/ fun in the house afterwards at 8:30 pm. 
     
    No registration required...just show up! Email us for more information. 
  • Faith Studies

  • Newman Centre Fall Retreat

    Friday, September 26, 2014 - 6:00pm to Sunday, September 28, 2014 - 3:00pm

    Join us for our fall retreat! We'll be headed up to Teopoli for a weekend of hanging out, talks, food, fun and prayer. It's a great way to meet people, and the best part is that it's only $40 for the whole weekend, including transportation, accommodations and meals!!

  • Cardinal Newman Lecture with Cardinal Collins

    Thursday, October 2, 2014 - 7:00pm
    This academic year Newman Centre will host a series of lectures titled the Faith and Reason Lecture Series. 
     
    The first Lecture is titled, "Cardinal Newman's Thought on Sensus Fidelium". 
    Sensus Fidelium (the sense of the Faithful) is a Latin term that relates to the appreciation of faith where the people of God, from the Pope to the laity, consent to and understand the universal teaching of the Church in the area of faith and morals. 
     
    His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, the Archbishop of Toronto will be the speaker for this lecture. 
    It will be on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 from 7 PM and doors will open at 6:30 PM.
